Cardfight!! Vanguard - Pale Moon - Silver Thorn
Updated: Jan 21, 2020
Today we are going to do a deck tech on a Pale Moon Silver Thorn build.
This is a slight variant on the main competitive build for Silver Thorns. As the support for this archetype has only had 1 set of cards to pull from, there are a few variants of the build that are played depending on your playstyle.
After listing the decklist we will try to explain our choices as best we can but most of the cards included are cards that are used in the main competitive variant of the clan.
Silver Thorn Assistant, Ionela (1) Starting Vanguard
Candy Clown (4) Heal
Hades Hypnotist (4) Draw - Perfect Guard
Silver Thorn, Barking Dragon (4) Critical
Silver Thorn Beast Tamer, Serge (4) Front
Silver Thorn, Breathing Dragon (4)
Silver Thorn Assistant, Irina (4)
Silver Thorn Conjurer, Romy (4)
Silver Thorn, Rising Dragon (4)
Silver Thorn Acrobaty, Leonor (3)
Silver Thorn Marionette, Lilian (4)
Golden Beast Tamer (2)
Silver Thorn Beast Tamer, Doriane (4)
Silver Thorn Dragon Tamer, Luquier (4)
Starting with the trigger lineup we run Rainbow due to the fact that 2 of the triggers have Silver Thorn in their names which helps with the effects of the other Silver Thorns that require Silver Thorns with different names in your soul. The Grade 1 lineup is the same in almost all builds so there is not much you can tech in. Romy and Irina are used to selectively soul charge Silver Thorns and Breathing Dragon is a situational booster that you probably won't use its effect very often. For the Grade 2 Rising Dragon essentially gets a free 10K power when called from soul using Luquier's ability or when placed after using her ability. Leonor also gets free power after using Luquier's ability as long as you leave 1 card in soul for her ability to go off. Lilian is one of the best cards in the deck as she almost always gets to attack for 19K if you can maintain enough soul, and she can search for your missing Grade 3 piece. Your Grade 3 Silver Thorns are basically the reason you play the deck. Luquier floods the board with cards from your soul and Doriane puts them back in to potentially do it again on the next turn. This is the perfect anti-retire deck because there is never anything on the board once you hit Grade 3 for them to retire, plus Doriane allows you to keep hand advantage. Beast Tamer is used soley to call out one of your Grade 3 pieces that you don't have in hand, preferably Doriane. This deck is primarily run as an Accel II deck as it wants to churn through your deck and find the pieces you need to go off.
Thank you for reading, and hopefully you have a blast playing with Silver Thorns.
